Dr. Ahmet R. Mermut (b. March 1, 1942, Bitlis, Turkey) was a globally respected soil scientist whose work advanced pedology, mineralogy, and sustainable land management across arid and tropical regions. His career spanned decades of research, teaching, and international collaboration, leaving a lasting legacy in soil science communities worldwide.
